St Columba’s is a Catholic school with Christ’s teachings of love, peace and justice at the heart of all we do

This year, the children in Key Stage 2 have embarked on a journey with a small mouse called  Minimus.  He is helping the children to learn Latin and he has introduced them to a real family that is believed to have lived in Vindolanda in 100AD, near what is now known as Hadrian’s Wall.  The family consists of Flavius, the fort commander, his wife Lepidina, their three children, assorted household slaves, their cat Vibrissa - and Minimus the mouse.  It has so far proven to be fun and enjoyable, with Latin audio supporting files to help the children with their pronunciation.
