I am a mum to three amazing children, two of which attend St Columba’s Catholic Primary School. I enjoy this role immensely. I want the best learning environment for my children and that of their peers, and hope to fulfill this aspiration in my role as governor.
I currently work for the Local Authority brokering places for young people in Alternative Provisions. Additionally, I advise families who have elected to home educate their child(ren). Both responsibilities require me to work collaboratively with other support agencies such as social services, the police, youth services or family support workers. I am also a Designated Safeguarding Lead in this role.
I have over 10 years of administrative experience as well as a background in finance. I hold a Level 1 counselling qualification, level 1 mentoring qualification and volunteered for 12 months as a Bereavement Support Worker. Currently, I am a Professional Coach in training. I achieved my psychology degree whilst working, becoming a mother to two of my children and experiencing a close bereavement, so I am well versed in working under pressure. I hope that my skills and experience can complement those of my colleagues on the committee.
In my spare time, some of the things I enjoy are sewing, painting and decorating, spending time with my family and going out for a daily run.
