School Parliament 2022 - 23

Welcome to St Columba's School Parliament

Autumn 1 was a busy term for the School Council.  Elections took place in September and our newly voted representatives were congratulated by their classmates.

The first project that we focused on was collecting food for the local foodbank .  Together with the Mini Vinnies, the School Council Representatives helped to gather together all our contributions, ready to be delivered to Our Lady of Perpetual Succour church.  This was then passed on to the local St Vincent de Paul society to be bagged up and distributed to families in our local parish and community.

The KS2 representatives also worked hard with the lunchtime supervisors to clear all of the leaves from the playground to ensure we could all play safely.  A job well done, thank you KS2 team!  They are also working on a wish list for some 'wet play' books and games and we will provide an update on this in the Spring term.

Finally, we also asked children to raise awareness of road safety.  Several children produced posters to warn pedestrians and drivers of the potential dangers of driving too quickly or parking in the wrong place.  This is an ongoing project and has been supported by the large sign that is now outside school, together with cones to prevent parking outside of the school gates.

Thanks to all of the School Council Representatives and we look forward to more projects in the Spring term.
