St Columba’s is a Catholic school with Christ’s teachings of love, peace and justice at the heart of all we do

Curriculum

All year groups in school follow the Archdiocese of Birmingham scheme of work entitled 'Learning and Growing as the People of God.' This is a progressive scheme building on the skills and knowledge acquired in previous years. Each year group teaches a range of units of work which cover Scripture, Sacraments, Living as Christians and the Liturgical Year. This ensures that all children cover a wide range of units throughout each year group. Religious Education is taught for 10% of curriculum time which is 2.5 hours per week.

The staff team are dedicated to every stage of your child’s development in the faith and through prayer life, vocational awareness, Religious Education lessons, charitable works, Sacramental preparation, we work with you, the parent, and the Parish to make sure children growing in God’s love are prepared to live life to the fullest as Catholics who have an astute understanding of their personal and social responsibility and British Values as faith filled and giving citizens of tomorrow.

Each term, your child's curriculum letter will detail the Diocesan Strategy Units being covered in class to support you  so that you can complement the academic and spiritual journey your child is engaging with at home.
