St Columba’s is a Catholic school with Christ’s teachings of love, peace and justice at the heart of all we do
At St Columba's School we pride ourselves on providing a high-quality Physical Education curriculum that enables all our children, irrelevant of their background, to perform at the highest levels possible.
Physical Education curriculum development within the Early Years Foundation Stage focuses on improving:
• Coordination
• Control
• Manipulation
• Special awareness
• Movement
Physical Education within the primary years focuses on the National Curriculum key aims:
• To develop competence to excel in a broad range of physical activities
• To be physically active for sustained periods of time
• To engage in competitive sports and activities
• To lead healthy, active lives
We believe that the key principles of the National Curriculum will only be sustained if we strengthen our partnership with parents carers and other schools within our academy. We strive to do this through, assemblies, competitions and after-school clubs.
