  • SCHOOL CLOSURE MONDAY 25TH JANUARY 2021

    Sun 24 Jan 2021

SCHOOL CLOSURE: Monday 25th January 2021

    Dear parents and carers,

Due to the poor weather conditions we are currently experiencing and after careful consideration and assessment of the risks involved, all Lumen Christi schools sites will remain closed to staff and all pupils, tomorrow, Monday 25th January.

Although the snowfall seems to have eased, it is still quite deep in some areas and with reduced traffic due to lockdown, some roads are significantly affected. Our main concern is that temperatures are due to drop below freezing throughout the night and into the morning which would make for treacherous conditions for staff and pupils travelling to school. For the health and safety of everyone and to support efforts to minimise the potential impact of additional accidents on the NHS we feel this is the best decision.

As a result of the hard work and initiative of staff over these challenging months, teachers and pupils are well prepared for continuing with their education and accessing remote learning when they are not in school tomorrow. There may be limited provision of live lessons but pupils should be familiar with how they approach their on line learning and parents can access further ideas and activities via the school website. Any time away from the screen for physical activity could of course be spent outside in the snow!

The weather seems set to improve from mid-morning tomorrow and so we envisage re-opening school sites at the usual times on Tuesday morning for those vulnerable and key worker pupils who have been attending already this term.

The leaders and staff of Lumen Christi remain committed to working in the best interests of our children and families during the current challenges.

Stay home, keep warm and keep safe!

    Principal

  • National Lockdown

    Mon 04 Jan 2021

    Dear Parents,

We hope that you have received the letter regarding the arrangements from tomorrow following the Prime Minister's decision to lockdown the country again. We know the distress this lockdown may cause and how much your child will miss being in school if they are not able to attend. Please know that we are at the end of the phone/ email if you need anything. We are here to help and support each and everyone of you in any way we can. Please stay safe and well and encourage your child to access the online learning and paper work packs.

    God bless

  • School re-opening

    Sun 03 Jan 2021
We know that parents will be anxious to know if school will be open on Tuesday. At the time of writing this message we plan to be open as planned for Tuesday. If there are any changes to this, parents will be the first to know. I will update you all again tomorrow  with reminders about social distancing and the staggered entry and exit times. In the meantime, stay safe and well and look out for some snow tonight too!
