Busy couple of weeks! I hope you all have a lovely weekend, year 4. Parents evening times went home today so please check your child's bag. If you can't find it or there's a problem with the time, please contact the school office.

Welcome back Year 4! It's been lovely to have you all back in school after the half term break.

This half term's fluency fact focus is Times Tables - particularly the 6x, 7x, 8x, 9x and 12x tables. These will be practiced in our Maths calculations lessons at least once a week.

In addition, as we are now approaching the date of the MTC (summer term!), we will be doing daily times table practice throughout this half term.

Please can all children practice their times tables at home as much as possible.

The best resources to use for this are:

The Multiplication Tables Check and the Speed Test options on Timestables.co.uk

Times Table Rockstars (all children have been given their logins but will be reminded of them tomorrow.)

The Times Table books children were given in September (I have spares available if lost)

Any and every opportunity to chant/recite/write down/be tested on any times tables they are struggling to recall instantly.

By the end of Y4, the national expectation is that all children will have instant recall of their times tables up to 12x so the MTC only allows 6 seconds to answer each question. We do lots of practice in school but as much practice at home as possible also really helps the children achieve this goal. Thank you.

The optional homework resources will be set from Monday as usual starting next week now the children are settled back in (2/3/26). Spellings will also start from then so the first spelling test for this half term will be Monday 9th March. Thank you.

Half way through the half term! Well done for your hard work so far Year 4, please keep it up. At the moment, Year 4 has a student teacher working with them throughout the week alongside me, Miss Keeves, as well as Mr Ali's support during the week as always. I'm aware children can sometimes find change, even temporary, difficult so if your child is experiencing any anxiety over that then please let me know so I can check-in with them during the week. Thank you all for your continued support, it is very much appreciated.

Sorry I realised I haven't updated for a while in the whirlwind of Year 4 life! The children were so busy in the run-up to Christmas with everything going on in school. I was particularly proud of their work on our KS2 carol concert. We've made an excellent start to this new term these first few weeks and I've been really impressed with the class' attitude and hard work over these first two weeks. We're always pushing to be the best we can be of course, and I'm very pleased with the progress the children are making. Please remember to keep reading at home every night and do check the homework page when you have time for consolidation work that may be helpful to you. This term we will also be having a big push on our times tables to shore up our knowledge of some of those trickier ones! It's a pleasure as always, Year 4 - keep it up!

Well done for an excellent class assembly last week for completing so many assessments today Year 4 - it is very much appreciated! A reminder it is parents evening on Thursday. Your child should have brought home a slip with your time slot. I have had a couple of messages through the children that the allocated time slot doesn't work for you. I did fit everyone into the timeslots they requested if I received a reply slip, if you are unable to make the time you've been given then please either pop in when you are able to and if I've got a break or can fit you in then I will, otherwise we can arrange another day/time then to catch up. I look forward to seeing you all on Thursday.

It is Year 4 Class Assembly at 9am on Tuesday 11th November to celebrate Remembrance Day. It would be lovely to see as many parents as are able to attend.

Please can the children practice this hymn at home as much as possible over the weekend - we have been learning it in class!

It's been a very busy half term for Year 4! All the children have worked really hard across all their subjects and I'm very proud of them and their progress - they've all earned a big rest next week! One more day to go before the half term break. Thank you parents for all your support as ever. Year 4 will be leading a Remembrance Day Assembly on Tuesday 11th November after half term. Thank you!

Year 4 had an excellent week last week - well done! Our particular focus as a class right now is handwriting and trying to make sure all our letters are formed correctly, sized correctly, and joined using cursive.

A reminder that it is the MTC parents workshop tomorrow (Tuesday 30th) at 9am for any who are able to attend. Details below.

Thank you and hope to see lots of you tomorrow!

Well done Year 4 to a great start to the year. We have made an excellent start on building routines and good habits. You have all shown an excellent attitude to learning and I'm really proud of you all. Keep up the good work. The start of the year is always the hardest for building those good habits that will help us have the best year ever. Have a lovely weekend!

There is a workshop for parents to attend on Tuesday 30th September with me about the Times Tables Check in Year 4. This is a really nice opportunity to spend some time with your child so they can show you how we are practicing them in school, and a chance to talk to me if you have any questions or concerns about it. Nobody needs to worry about the MTC - it is not until the end of the year, the children will be really well prepared, and it is a low stakes test with no pass/fail mark. I hope to see as many of you then as can attend!
