My name is Helen Thompson and I have been a Nursery Officer for Birmingham City Council for the last 24 years, in both Community Day Nurseries and Council Nurseries linked to Children’s Centres. I am also a Designated Safeguarding Lead and recently have been trained as a SENDCo, although I have been working within this area as part of my job role for the last 20 or so years.
I have four children – one at university, one at college, one in Year 11 at St. Thomas Aquinas School and one at St. Columba’s. I have been associated with St. Columba’s since my sister started in 1987. I wouldn't send my children anywhere else.
My hobby is basically running round for my children’s hobbies – gymnastics, air cadets and Irish Dancing, having travelled to Dublin, Glasgow and London for the Irish Dancing World Championships.
I look forward to seeing how the school moves forward, going from strength to strength.
